First Officiant offers warm and heartfelt nondenominational wedding ceremonies and premium personalized ceremonies. But not all couples want a formal wedding ceremony. Many are on a budget and decide to get married at the courthouse and simply want to have their marriage license signed.
Those couples think they must deal with one-way streets, downtown traffic, and lines at the courthouse to have their marriage license signed.
There’s a better way! If you have your Maricopa County marriage license and want to get married today, I can help.
My name is Matt Nathanson and I’ve been officiating weddings in the Phoenix area since 2008, mostly in the form of premium ceremonies. However, I’ve heard from many couples who aren’t interested in having a premium ceremony and only want something brief, and many times no ceremony at all. They just want their license signed and to be legally married. I totally understand that and am happy to help!
Courthouse weddings are only available after 5pm, Monday through Friday. Couples must bring two witnesses with them along with $120 cash and get in line at 4:30pm. For complete information visit the Maricopa County recorder’s office here.
I can be more flexible and you can come to my home office all throughout the day. If you have your Maricopa County marriage license, you can get married today.
Occasionally couples have marriage licenses issued from other counties in Arizona. That’s not a problem. I can still help. No matter what county your license was issued from, it’s good throughout the entire state of Arizona.

No, you must obtain your marriage license before we meet. Click here to visit the Maricopa County recorder’s office. You can apply for a marriage license online and they’ll mail it to you. If you’re in a hurry, you must visit one of the courthouses in person. You and your fiance must go together to the courthouse to obtain a license.
Not usually. Every now and then a neighbor is available to come over and sign a license, but it’s best if you bring two witnesses with you.
Perhaps that’s a good way to think of it, but it’s more an alternative to going downtown and signing in front of a judge. Same-day license signings are not wedding ceremonies.
Yes. Marriage license signings are nonreligious and totally nondenominational in nature. We’re signing a legal document, but I promise it’ll be much more romantic than going downtown and waiting in line with everyone.
